Faye Morrison for State Representative Banner

Meet Faye Morrison

Position Statement
According to the MA Teachers Association:

"Despite increasing education spending in the second half of the 1990's, Massachusetts remains well below what other states spend on education as a share of personal income. The state ranks 41st among the 50 states.

Education makes up almost 25% of the current budget. Without adequate state revenues, public education will suffer severe cut-backs jeopardizing the progress that has been made and not allow our public schools and colleges to prepare students for the global economy."

Faye supports the following Education Intiatives:

  1. Completion of the Budget on Time

Last year the budget was not completed until well into the school year. By then teachers had been hired and the operations budget established. It puts incredible pressure on schools to reliably predict what to anticipate for the coming year.

  2. 1993 Education Reform

In that bill, it was established that there should be multiple means of assessment of students. MCAS was not meant to be the only tool. While accountability in our schools is of extreme importance, we need to ensure that it is implemented fairly.

  3. Stabilization of the SBA

There are currently more than 250 projects on the SBA.. This pits school against school as they all attempt to provide the best education possible for their students. While we need to recognize that bricks and mortar are not the sole definition of a good education, an up-to-date modern facility, of which the community can be proud, helps to provide a more solid foundation for the learning that goes on inside.

Compare this to Hargraves voting record on education.
